Mold is the enemy of the restoration process. And we confront it head-on.
Everyone hates mold. It grows exponentially in the presence of moisture, and heat only magnifies the problem. While not all mold is harmful, many varieties cause respiratory and allergy problems.
After water damage, here are the signs of likely mold growth:
· High levels of humidity
· Warped wood
· Discolored walls
· Mildew and musty odors
· Wetness in doors
· Loose drywall that has been exposed to water
· Discolored spots on surfaces of walls, floor coverings, or furniture
Time is of the essence. If structural drying does not begin within 24 – 48 hours of water damage, microbial growth is likely to occur.
When we find mold, we approach remediation though adherence to strict protocols developed by environmental hygienists to minimize the possibility of mold germination. We follow the International Institute of Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) procedure of handling mold remediation jobs as outlined in the guide document S520.
